Granice/Borders – European Festival of Theatre in Prison 28/31-10-2021
Borders Festival is an event that, as one of the first initiatives of this type in Europe, was created to build a space for exchange, discussion and widening social awareness on the topic of theatre within the penitentiary system. The festival is being created as part of the Freeway Project.
The event will be a unique opportunity for an international exchange between theatre practitioners, who carry out theatrical activities in prisons, institutions (theatrical and penitentiary), researchers and the audience. An opportunity to build a platform for dialogue on the area of theatre in prison, in order to promote this form on a wider scale, both in Poland and abroad.

Photo exhibition “Borders” will be available for all festival participants for free in the opening hours of Henryk Tomaszewski Museum of Theatre ( from 11:00 to 17:00 ) during the festival. Tickets that will be available to pick up right before each of the festival events.
Pararelly to the live events, we will launch a festival online platform, where we will show documentary movies about theatre work in prisons from our project partners and live streaming of panel discussions from the Festival – more info soon.
Every evening we invite everybody to join us in the Festival club – Klubokawiarnia Mleczarnia, to spend some time in the open space, get to know each other and exchange thoughts. Every event in our Festival Club is open for all without registration – just come and join us!
All events within the festival are without charge, but registration is required.
